Monday made it Daily 5 freebies for you, reading/spelling trackers, and giveaways!

Monday, Monday, where did you go? I am a few days late to the party but I have been SO busy. Last week of freedom and I can't seem to relax:( So today I am linking up with Tara from 4th Grade Frolics for Monday(Wednesday) Made it!

I feel a little better than yesterday! I spent most of my night really looking at how I have to now work my reading block! See, before the ESL teacher and I had a modified Daily 5 because we say every group for guided reading every day, sometimes twice a day! Now since I won't be working with her(no one is-the system is changing) I have to think about something else....

So I am going back to do a full Daily 5 reading block! I have to get the books back from my classroom tomorrow and really do some rereading! The one thing I don't like is having the mini lessons in different chunks! I have found that there is too much transition time and instructional time is lost! Am I the only one who thinks that? So if my reading block this year is 9:00-11:20, but I have to have 40 minutes of writing in there...how in the world do I schedule my reading block? Anyone have any ideas? If you offer any suggestions, I would gladly give you my new reading and spelling trackers for free(see below for them).

So here are the Daily 5 items I have been working on! I had them last year but just updated a few things and added all the credits and such! Any of these materials are not indorsed by The Sisters. If you want to learn more about how to use the Daily 5 I highly suggest you get their books:)

So first thing...here are some daily/weekly trackers that students can use to keep track of what choices they have done. Just click on any of the pictures to download!

Next is a poster to help students with reading to someone

This last one is posters you can use around your room for Daily 5 and CAFE

I hope you can use some of these:)

So the other thing I made last night was a spelling and reading tracker. This is for students to keep data on their spelling tests and also keep up with their minutes they read for homework! Both area available in my TPT and TN stores!

  3. Hi Tonya,
These are great resources! I have often thought the same thing about having too much wasted transition time. I wish I could say I came up with an alternative, but I'm still working on that. I’m having my big 100 follower giveaway! I’d love it if you wanted to come on over for a visit sometime. Thanks!

  4. Hi Tonya,
Thanks for your freebies today. I love Daily 5 and all that it has to offer our children. Here is a suggestion regarding your day:
Why couldn't you incorporate your writing into your mini lessons? If you have 3 mini lessons one could be the Cafe Menu, one could be grammar and the other could be the skill you are working on with regard to writing. With the writing piece you could have a Mentor text and then go from there. You would have about 70 minutes to work with during each rotation. Also, writing is infused throughout the Daily 5 through Reader's Response...let's say you are focusing on persuasive..they could persuade a character from their book to do something? etc... I don't know if this helps...Good Luck.
BTW, I am fairly new to the Blog world..in your spare time come check out Teise's Tidbits.
