First off, thank you to those who participated in my ice cream giveaway! The winner is...
I will be emailing you today and get your info! Congrats! Don't forget I am still having a 40% off sale at my Teacher's Notebook shop to celebrate my 400 followers! I will also be contacting some of my blogging friends and see who would like to help me out in a huge giveaway when I get to 500 followers!
So yesterday I went to the podiatrist.....finally! I already knew I had plantar fasciitis...but the pain was not going away. I got a referral from my doctor and went. I was so scared because I did not want the cortozone shot...at all! Remember...me+needles=bad news!
Well I was in the office for a hour and it was good news and bad news! Good news is the top of my foot looks great, toes look good, ankle looks great:) Bad news...yes, I have plantar fasciitis AND a BONE SPUR...seriously! I wanted to start crying:( I didn't though! It is small. He told me I have extremely HIGH arches and really is surprised I didn't need to see a podiatrist sooner. So I am getting fit for new custom orthotics on Monday (another dang $70 copay) but I called insurance and they are 100% covered! I was so happy! I also have some new stretching exercises and have been instructed to get new shoes! Yea! Shoe shopping! What girl doesn't love shoe shopping!
So last night while I was at Starbucks I looked up the name of the shoes he really suggests I get. Naot shoes. Well, they are like $170 bucks! Ugh! Well, it's better than surgery right??? I needed house shoes and work shoes!
I went today after my hair cut to The Walking Company...this is what I came home with!
These are my house sandals! I got them in black too so I can have some to wear out and about
These are my new black work shoes! They are the Naot ones for $184! YIKES! The sole will mold to my foot. They felt GREAT! I now am just broke for the rest of the month...haha!
I just hope my feet get better than worse!
Have a great rest of the night!
I just got some things from your TN store... I have had my eye on your Owl scratchers for a MONTH!
ReplyDeleteI hope those shoes and exercises will help you feel better!

I had a pair of Naot sandals many years ago that I loved. You can get them at 6pm.com for a good price. They are constantly updating their site and stock, so it's great to check every few weeks.
ReplyDeleteI have Plantar Fasciitis as well. I use ice packs made of water beads in a ziploc bag. They are cold enough to feel good, but don't freeze all the way.
Thanks for the website! I can't wait to check it out:)
DeleteSorry to hear your diagnosis! Bone spurs are no fun! Mine come and go....and they have been terrible lately! Hopefully your new shoes and orthotics will help. :)

I'm glad you found some footwear! I've worn orthotics since the 7th grade (I am a biomechanical mess) and I will tell you this, they have come sooooo far. Back in the day (man, I'm old to be using a phrase like that) they were hard plastic and only fit in cross trainer type shoes. Just what every 7th grader wants to be wearing to school, right? I'm a bit jealous that yours are covered by insurance, mine aren't and without a copay they are quite pricey.
ReplyDeleteOk, one more thing and I promise to leave you alone. I absolutely love Alegria shoes and Orthoheel flip flops-check them out! So happy to hear you will be more comfortable in the coming days!!!!

I know your wallet hurts right now but you are going to forget the cost once your feet begin feeling better. I learned the hard way that teachers must have comfortable shoes and have been wearing Sanita clogs for three years. I hope your feet get better before the school year begins. Smile.
