Table Shelves {organization & classroom management}

I KNOW all of you have seen this picture before...I just know it!

Am I right??? I first saw this picture 3 years ago and fell.in.love! Dandelions and Dragonflies set up her classroom so perfect...I was officially jealous! I wanted to have those table shelves sooooo bad!

I have never had enough shelves to do something like this, or the space, or the money to buy everything.

When I first started teaching in Hawaii last year I was fortunate to have 10 metal bookshelves. I used them to store all sorts of things...math games, book boxes, binders, paper towel, and so on.

At the end of the year I was playing around with the room arrangement and decided to finally try giving each table group a shelf. I didn't do much with it since I only had a week left, but I wanted to see what it would look like as far as space.

Here they are from last year

Nasty, old, rusted metal shelves.
I did LOVE how they looked as far as the room arrangement went...but if I was to have something like this next school year, they needed to be remodeled, updated, and pretty:)

So this year I moved to a new classroom at the same school and it was a remodeled room. Instead of having 10 shelves, I now have 6. They got rid of a ton of them because the rust was so bad. So every classroom now has 6.

Anyways, I got busy thinking how I wanted to update them and what I wanted to put on them. I really like how they turned out! The shelves also help with part of my classroom management strategy.

Take a look!

SO easy to use, and the kids just love it. If I forget to move the magnet, the kids make sure to tell me:)

How do you manage your classroom supplies and jobs?

Have a great weekend! I am going to do my best and stay safe inside my house! The hurricanes are coming to Oahu in just a few hours! CRAZY!

Color Labels for Organization and maybe a new color theme????

A few weeks back I posted about how I organize my crayons, colored pencils, and markers!

It has been the BEST idea ever!

No more digging for colors

No more hearing, "I don't have a black" or "I can't find a green"

It sat nicely on my back counter in a place the kids could go all the time.

Now you have to set some rules with getting colors. I mean, who wants all 24 kids up at one time trying to get to the colors...right???

I would have the kids get TWO colors at a time. I would start by calling tables over, one at a time. By the time all the tables got their two colors they started slowly going back up, putting their two colors away and getting two more. It became a nice flow.

When I posted this idea, many people asked for my labels!

WELL...I have made some:)
This was the first thing I worked on this morning.

I made a few different kinds and added the ones I had previously!

And one set that is not complete yet. I emailed Krista Wallden from The Creative Chalkboard to see if she can make the Paint Chip pencils in a few other colors...they are just so cute!

I am ready to print out my set! Are you?
You can pick it up at my TpT or TN shop!

If you would like to win a free copy, just leave a comment and I will pick a two winners later tonight!

So I found this paper from Erin Bradley and fell in LOVE. I really don't have the money to do a new theme or colors, but with moving, this is the perfect opportunity!

I love the calm cool colors! It is SO me.

So should I? Shouldn't I?
Anyone have places to find Borders and Trimmers online? I think that might make my decision easier!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! Happy Father's day to all you Dad's out there! A special shout out to my father. He is one of the most laid back, easy going guys around! I am so thankful and proud he is my dad!

Summer Planner-want one?

Before I begin, I have a few things to share!

1
My interview I think went well! I was a nervous wreck! There was a ton of curriculum questions, PLC, RTI, and little on what it is like to be a kindergarten teacher. So overall I think I did well. There was the standard 2 strengths and a weakness, classroom management, and how are you fit for our school! I did get stumped on the "If I called your Principal, what would they say about you?" I mean, I don't want to put words in someone elses mouth. I know they are all very sad I am leaving and know how much of a great teacher I am, but how do you answer that???

The answer to my DQ question is....

I HIGHLY recommend it. Would it be bad of me to go get another one?

If you guessed S'More, send me an email with the two things you want for FREE!

So today I am linking up with two fabulous ladies!
Elizabeth from Fun in Room 4B and Kristen from Ladybug Teacher Files

So I found these two fun planner pads at Target! They are super cute!
Elizabeth...I see this is the SAME Target find you blogged about!

But what I REALLLLLYYYY wanted was the idea of both of them together on ONE pad. Did I find it...NO:(

But did I made one...YUP!
What do you think?
Is this something YOU would use? If so, I can add it to my TpT store for FREE! Let me know what you think!

Well, I am off to get ready for another interview tomorrow! Need to do my research on that school!

Have a great day!

Optimum Organization and a Fresh New Look!

Do you like what you see? This stunning new blog design makes my heart happy! Whitney is the one of the sweetest, most easy going people I have ever met. She took this idea I had, but I wasn't sure what to do with it, and turned it into a sleek, elegant, sweet, chic, sophisticated blog design that I am in love with!  Do you even notice the hearts that pop up when you go over one of my headers or pictures! And the hearts that come out of the mason jars??? Such thought has been put into every detail on this blog design!

Whitney is a gem and I think when I grow up I seriously want to be her! If you are in the market for something fresh and new, you WON'T be disappointed!

So tonight I am linking up with Elizabeth from Fun in Room 4B and Kristen from Ladybug's Teacher Files for their Optimum Organization linky party!

Organization is something I am very good at. I feel that it is also important to teach my students how to be organized. Every year I have parents thanking me for teaching their kids how to be organized.

One thing I found this summer on Pinterest was this idea...
I saw this and knew it was something I had to do. For YEARS I have been sick and tired of hearing students digging for a certain color or asking "I can't find a black crayon."

This year, I have had ZERO problems with colors that they need! No noise, no complains...it is awesome!

I put crayons, markers, and colored pencils all in the same drawer! I highly recommend you doing this! I bought the 3 drawers at Target for I believe $12 each. I do need to make some new tags for it though!

I am off to check out more organizational tips! I am always looking for something new:)

I will be back tomorrow with something new I plan in doing every Friday! I can't wait to share it with you all!

Instant Data idea:) plus Font Friday

I tried something new today, and I have to say...I was very impressed!

Last night I graded my students last math test and today I went over it with them. I cut this paper up I made and gave each student a strip.

As we went over each question, I had students color in the square if they had that question wrong.

Once we were done with the test, I took each strip and taped them to a manilla folder.

INSTANT data!!! I did not have to plug numbers into a computer. I can clearly see that question 9 is one I really need to go over. I plan on the bottom writing the percentages.

I showed this to my Principal and Instructional Facilitator and they both loved the idea. What do you think?

On another note, I said I would start a Font Friday! Well, it's Friday! I plan on adding these three fonts to my TpT and TN files this weekend.

Alright...I am back to the movie with my husband! I have a ton to do and get ready for my trip to Hawaii in a week and a half! I just wish he was going with me:(

Wednesday FREEBIE with a little bit of shopping:)

Happy Wednesday to you all:) I honestly woke up and had NO IDEA what day it was! I L.O.V.E it:) Isn't summer great!?!? ALL except for this weather forecast...YUCK!
I am staying inside the next few days!

So today, after the gym, I had to go to Michael's and return something and of course walked out of there with something else...how does this happen??? Well, what I am working on now will be for my Monday Made it to go along with my 200 follower giveaway reveal!

So what did I do after Michales...of course I went to my nail salon during happy hour and got a discounted rate on my pedicure! My foot has been hurting so bad, even though I am on some heavy meds, the pedi sure helped! My favorite girl was in and I was lucky to have her do my pedi! I was in there for over an hour! She used 3 hot stones, lavender scrub, lavender oil with a hot towel, and massaged for like 30 minutes...pure heaven! To go along with my lavender theme I guess I was having, I went with a hot purple nail polish! Don't mind my fat toes but I just had to show you how pretty the color is:)

Next stopped by Target, hit up the dollar section for a pink whiteboard fabric bins! I heart these bins and the colors:) They match my room perfectly!

I needed a few more of these because I bought this shelf from a coworker the last day of school. She was packing up to move to her new school and didn't want to bring it! Score for me!
AND I had this frog bin last year that I plan on using again! I will be placing him in the middle and the other 4 in the corners! Not sure what I will do with the other cubbies...do you have a suggestion???

So what did I do with the whiteboard? Well, my plan was to have it hang by the door as an exit reminder for the kids! So it will say..."remember to..." and then I can write "wear PE shoes tomorrow" or "bring field trip money". Anything that the kids need to remember for the next day!

So I have made it into a FREEBIE for you! But I need your help! I can't decide which one I want to use! I have a frog theme...but should I go with...

The frog theme

OR...
 no frog theme

Let me know what you think I should do? I plan on using mod podge to stick it on! I have it up for free in my TPT and TN stores:)

Last but not least, I got TWO awards today...but I will write about that tomorrow...this post is already WAYYYY TOOOO LONGGG! Thanks for sticking around to read this:)

I Saw It On Pinterest Linky Party and my Teacher Toolbox:)

No more school=more time on Pinterest for me:) And what better way to start by joining Amber from Adventures of a Third Grade teacher's fun I Saw It On Pinterest Linky Party!

So where in the world do I start???

I have just discovered pistachio flavored stuff! I so want to make these cupcakes:)

These are honestly the BEST chocolate chip cookies I have EVER made! Trust me when I say you won't be disappointed! I used mini chips instead of the bigger ones! Yummy!

I am going to rearrange our walk in food pantry! It is a MESS...no joke. I complain about it every time I open the door and can't.walk.in-seriously! I think my husband is sick of it and would appreciate me doing something about it! This is my plan!

I need a place to hang my necklaces! This looks like fun!

I hope you like these PINS! I am so excited to see what others have pinned! My mind is spinning already!

So...I also jumped on the teacher toolbox bandwagon! I love how it turned out...don't you???

You can grab my labels at my TPT and TN store today!

Thanks for stopping by!
