Color Labels for Organization and maybe a new color theme????

A few weeks back I posted about how I organize my crayons, colored pencils, and markers!

It has been the BEST idea ever!

No more digging for colors

No more hearing, "I don't have a black" or "I can't find a green"

It sat nicely on my back counter in a place the kids could go all the time.

Now you have to set some rules with getting colors. I mean, who wants all 24 kids up at one time trying to get to the colors...right???

I would have the kids get TWO colors at a time. I would start by calling tables over, one at a time. By the time all the tables got their two colors they started slowly going back up, putting their two colors away and getting two more. It became a nice flow.

When I posted this idea, many people asked for my labels!

WELL...I have made some:)
This was the first thing I worked on this morning.

I made a few different kinds and added the ones I had previously!

And one set that is not complete yet. I emailed Krista Wallden from The Creative Chalkboard to see if she can make the Paint Chip pencils in a few other colors...they are just so cute!

I am ready to print out my set! Are you?
You can pick it up at my TpT or TN shop!

If you would like to win a free copy, just leave a comment and I will pick a two winners later tonight!

So I found this paper from Erin Bradley and fell in LOVE. I really don't have the money to do a new theme or colors, but with moving, this is the perfect opportunity!

I love the calm cool colors! It is SO me.

So should I? Shouldn't I?
Anyone have places to find Borders and Trimmers online? I think that might make my decision easier!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! Happy Father's day to all you Dad's out there! A special shout out to my father. He is one of the most laid back, easy going guys around! I am so thankful and proud he is my dad!

    1. I used it as a whole class colors supply. I had some in their group boxes but for the most part they were in these drawers! It worked SO well!

  8. Go for the new theme! I also use that color system with baskets. It has helped! When a student has no brown, the just walk over to the basket and get one! Also, if the find crayons on the look, into the color baskets they go!

  15. Yes, switch colors. I think they are calming. I love, love, love Erin Bradley Designs. On her website she has buy 3 get the 4th set free - I think she also makes bunting to go with that set. So pretty!

  17. Those labels are very cute. I love the idea of the paint chip pencils so you can various shades of each color in the same spot and the label still covers them all.

  18. Hi Tonya - just an idea to add to your own - last summer I saw a great idea on a Kindergarten teacher's blog that I used to sort my colored pencils, crayons, and markers. Putting an inexpensive over the door clear front plastic pocket shoe rack on the outside of one of my cabinet doors... Your labels are just the thing to print off and label each clear pocket with the corresponding items. I too have finally enjoyed this last year with no one saying they don't have a colored pencil or crayon to do their work or asking "Can I borrow...?". The height of each pocket enabled me to also put in my spare rulers for the kids, scissors, pencils, highlighters, and blue checking pens. The pocket shoe rack is narrow enough to fit on one cabinet door and letting go of holding onto the items in my cabinet was very useful to the kids. I worried at first about the kids having to use a chair to get the very top items, but they are fourth graders and only the items they should have anyway (pencils, rulers, and scissors) are kept up there - so I can be sure to get them back.
